Destruction in paradise

I was looking at  some photos, recently taken of my secret paradise island, and I was very sad to see this:

This photo was taken in May 2011 and this ugly concrete hotel, right before the main beach and  is probably finished by now. It is the first of it’s kind on the island, at least that I know of.  Residents on the island say that it will not end well for this hotel and that they will only have guests if they charge as low as 300 baht a night, which will of course not be possible. The reason is that there are many resorts already on the island being empty during big parts of the year. The island is not in need of that many beds.  Neither does the island attract high budget tourists. In fact, most people still don’t  know the island exists. It would be very good if it stayed that way, at least for a few more years.
